Allium Sphaerocephalon Bulbs
Allium Sphaerocephalon is a tall, late flowering allium with oval flower heads that start as light green buds before maturing into deep claret blackcurrant tones. The slim stems and rounded flower heads give borders, gravel gardens and perennial planting a light, upright structure through July and August.
Growing to around 90cm tall, this allium is useful for adding height without taking up much ground space. It works well planted in drifts, scattered through sunny borders, grown in pots, or mixed through rock gardens and open planting areas.
Plant from September to October in moist but well drained soil, in full sun. The flowers are also excellent for cutting, and the variety has received the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit for reliable garden performance.
