Allium Cristophii Bulbs
Allium Cristophii, also known as Star of Persia, produces large rounded flower heads made up of many small purple star shaped blooms. The flower heads can reach up to around 20cm across, giving sunny borders and mixed planting a strong architectural look in June and July.
Growing to around 50cm tall, this allium works well dotted through beds and borders where the flower heads can rise between other plants. The sturdy stems are also useful for cut flower arrangements, and the dried golden seed heads can be left in place for structure after flowering.
Plant from September to November in fertile, well drained soil, in full sun. Space the bulbs around 20cm apart and plant them around 15cm deep to give the flower heads room to develop.
