Crocus Vernus Purple produces violet purple flowers with white centres and golden anthers, bringing strong early colour to the garden from February to March. The compact blooms work well in borders, window boxes, rockeries, walkways and spring containers.
This crocus grows to around 10cm tall with a spread of around 5cm. It has an upright, clump forming habit and can naturalise when left undisturbed, returning in future years with very little fuss.
Plant from September to December in gritty, well drained soil. Crocus Vernus Purple will grow in full sun or partial shade, and looks best planted in groups or mixed with other early spring bulbs for a broader colour display.
