Fritillaria Imperialis Orange Bulb

Fritillaria Imperialis Orange, also known as Crown Imperial, is a tall spring flowering bulb with clusters of orange bell shaped flowers. It brings height and structure to the garden, making it useful towards the back of a spring border or dotted between lower growing bulbs and perennials.

This variety grows to around 90cm tall and flowers from April to May. The strong upright stems and unusual flower shape make it a good choice for adding something a little different to spring planting, especially in borders, wild garden areas, rockeries and under suitable shrubs.

Plant from September to December in partial shade, in rich soil that stays moist during the growing season but does not sit wet. The bulbs can rot in heavy, waterlogged ground, so adding grit is helpful where drainage needs improving.
