The Panacea Bee Conscious Garden Trellis is a decorative metal garden trellis decorated with colourful bees across its frame, designed to support climbing plants whilst giving pollinators a warm welcome into your garden. Standing just over 1.6 metres tall, it is ideal for training sweet peas, clematis, rambling roses, or climbing beans against a fence, wall, or set into a large planter.
As part of Panacea's Bee-Conscious collection, the trellis is finished with a protective powder coating that helps it weather the British climate year after year. The bee-motif frame gives your outdoor space a splash of colour from the moment you install it, even before the plants have put on their spring growth. Trellises work best fixed to a wall with trellis clips or pushed 30 cm into the soil with a pair of sturdy posts for freestanding use as a feature divider.
Which plants grow well up this trellis?
The 61 cm width and 167.6 cm height suit most lightweight climbers. Sweet peas, nasturtiums, and black-eyed Susan vine fill out quickly in one season. Clematis, honeysuckle, and rambling roses thrive over two to three seasons. For heavier fruit, pair the trellis with a stronger post framework.
How do I install the trellis?
For wall mounting, fix with galvanised trellis clips and screws into wall plugs, leaving a 2-3 cm gap behind the frame so plant tendrils can wrap around the bars. For freestanding use, push the bottom 30 cm into the soil between two timber stakes driven 45 cm into the ground for stability in wind.
Is the trellis weatherproof for UK conditions?
Yes. Panacea finish their outdoor metal garden structures with a protective powder coating that resists rust through typical UK wet winters. For extra longevity, give the frame an annual wipe-down and touch up any chips with matching exterior metal paint.
Does it need a stand or pot, or is it self-supporting?
The trellis itself is rigid once installed but not freestanding on its own. You will need either wall fixings, a planter deep enough to take 30 cm of the base, or a pair of timber posts to anchor it.
Why a bee-conscious trellis?
Panacea research suggests around 50% of UK bee species are in decline. By adding pollinator-friendly climbers and visible bee-friendly cues to your garden, you help sustain the local foraging population that in turn boosts yields on fruit trees and bushes such as cherry, strawberry, and blueberry.
