Gardman Netting Grow Tunnel is a practical crop protection tunnel that shields your plants from birds, insects, and pests without the need for chemicals. Constructed from woven black UV-stabilised polyethylene netting stretched over seven galvanised wire half-hoop frames, it provides a physical barrier that lets in light, air, and rain whilst keeping unwanted visitors out.
Ideal for protecting strawberries, salad crops, brassicas, and vegetables throughout the growing season. The tunnel sits neatly over a garden bed or raised bed row, and the sides lift up easily for ventilation and access when watering, weeding, or harvesting — no need to remove the entire structure. An organic, pesticide-free approach to protecting your crops.
Quick and straightforward to set up, simply spread the tunnel over your plants and push the metal hoop ends into the ground to hold it in place. The woven netting also helps to reduce the impact of strong sunlight, protecting young and tender plants from scorching on hot days.
What does the netting protect against?
The woven netting provides an effective physical barrier against birds, butterflies, moths, and other insects that can damage or destroy crops. It is ideal as an organic alternative to pesticides for protecting strawberries, brassicas, and salad crops.
Can I still water my plants through the netting?
Yes. The woven mesh netting allows rain and irrigation water to pass through freely. For direct watering or feeding, the sides of the tunnel lift up easily for convenient access without dismantling the structure.
How do I set it up?
Simply spread the tunnel over your planting row, push the metal ends of the wire hoops into the ground to secure them, and the tunnel is ready to use. No tools or fixings are required. The hoops hold the netting at a height of approximately 40cm, giving plants room to grow.
How long is the tunnel?
The tunnel measures 310cm (just over 10 feet) in length, 50cm wide, and 40cm high — suitable for covering a standard raised bed or garden row.
Can it be used all year round?
Yes. The UV-stabilised netting is designed for long-term outdoor use and can be left in place throughout the growing season. It can also help protect young plants from wind damage in spring and extend the season into autumn.
